Before there was the music, there was Hollywood.
Meredith Trosper spent nearly a decade behind the scenes in Los Angeles, working in the fast-moving world of television and entertainment. But somewhere between production sets, deadlines, and the machinery of show business, she realized she was living around creativity rather than inside it.
So she left.
What followed was anything but ordinary.
Meredith moved to Portland, taught English in Japan and South Korea, led students on adventures along the Oregon Coast, traveled, performed, wrote songs, read tea leaves, and followed a winding path that took her farther and farther away from the life she thought she was supposed to be living.
And somewhere along the way, something clicked.
Teaching English to students from around the world became an unexpected doorway back to herself. Standing in front of young people from completely different cultures, sharing stories, music, language and laughter, Meredith discovered that connection—not Hollywood, not a title, not a traditional career path—was what made her come alive.
She began to understand that all of the seemingly unrelated pieces of her life were actually pointing in the same direction.
Music.
The songs had been there all along.
Now, at 49, Meredith Trosper is finally stepping fully into the role she was always meant to play: singer-songwriter, storyteller, ukulele player, and unapologetic explorer of the human experience.
Her debut album is the culmination of a life that refused to follow a straight line. The record moves through love, loss, humor, vulnerability, independence and the strange magic of simply being alive. It is music from someone who has lived a little, wandered a lot, and finally stopped running from the voice inside her.
The album features collaborations with a talented group of musicians and was mixed by legendary producer and engineer John Agnello, whose credits span decades of iconic music. For Meredith, having these songs finally leave her notebook and enter the world is more than an album release.
It is a homecoming.
She escaped Los Angeles looking for something she couldn’t quite name.
She traveled the world looking for herself.
And somewhere between teaching English, making connections across cultures, picking up her ukulele and writing songs, she discovered that the thing she had been searching for was waiting inside her all along.
Her higher purpose was never to become somebody else.
It was to become Meredith.
